Photography in a Digital World: Introduction to Post-Processing

Taking a digital photo with your phone or camera is only the first step in creating a digital image. In this workshop, Jenn will introduce you to the world of filters and photographic post-processing. She will show you how to use common tools such as Instagram and iPhoto to correct problems in digital photos (for instance, brightening up a dark photo, cropping, or color correcting) or to add an artistic flare through filters and special effects. She will show you how to add text to photos and even explore motion effects. She will show you before and after images and get a sneak peek into how she created some of her award-winning photographs. The class will focus on easy-to-use, freely available programs, but will also include an introduction to post-processing software like Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. Nearly every image you see in the media has been altered in some way – this class will help you take the next steps in realizing your artistic vision.

In this scavenger hunt-type experience, we'll use our surroundings to practice composition, hone focus skills, look for light, and play with motion.
